SUSTAINABILITY – CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS
Segilola Resources Operating Limited enjoys a good relationship with its host communities. The company has signed Community Development Agreements (CDA’s) with the three host communities for the Segilola Gold Project and has been implementing community development projects in line with the CDA’s. Some of those projects include:
- Grading of the Iperindo-Ilerin Road
- Provision of boreholes in the three host communities
- Provision of scholarships for secondary and tertiary education to qualified community members.
- The Livelihood Restoration Plan has commenced with various business projects being set up to assist Project Affected Persons.
- Youth Empowerment Programme for the communities
The company has also undertaken additional CSR projects. Some of these include:
- A donation of $20,000 to the Africa Centre of Excellence for Genomics of Infectious Diseases (ACEGID) to further their COVID-19 testing efforts in Osun State and the region
- Provision of palliatives during the COVID-19 lockdown to the economically vulnerable in the communities
- Provision of sanitizing items and PPE to the community health centres during the COVID-19 lockdown
- Provision of food items to the communities during Christmas period
- Fixing of Ilerin-Iperindo Road
- Health and Safety sensitization session for motorcyclists in the communities as well as provision of helmets and reflective jackets for the motorcyclists.
- A Christmas Party was held for the children in the communities.
