Empowering Women through Financial Literacy: International Women’s Day Workshop a Resounding Success

To commemorate International Women’s Day (IWD), Segilola Resources Operating Limited (SROL) hosted a transformative Financial Literacy Workshop on 13th April 2024 for the women in its host communities. With an impressive turnout of 550 women ranging from 20 to 65 years old, at the Iperindo Townhall, the event was an impactful one.

The event was MCéd by Comrade Paul Obasanya, Chairman of Imogbara Community, who ensured the women could understand all that was being said. For this initiative, SROL partnered with one of the financial institutions in the country, known for its product offerings to women, Access Bank. Mrs. Olukemi Awodipe, Access Bank Regional Manager, Southwest, facilitated the financial literacy training.

Attendees were enlightened on the importance of personal finance and building wealth. Facilitators engaged participants in candid discussions, shedding light on practical financial management strategies tailored to the unique needs of the community.

Inspiring anecdotes of perseverance and upward mobility were shared by community members who have personally benefitted from the Segilola Gold Mine and made progress on their financial journeys. For some of them, from humble beginnings as cleaners, they have ascended to roles of significance within the organization, embodying resilience and growth.

Attendees were equipped with actionable insights and building blocks needed to maximize their personal finance. SROL extends heartfelt gratitude to all participants, partners, and supporters for their unwavering dedication to women’s empowerment. Together, we embark on a journey of financial literacy and economic resilience, forging a brighter tomorrow for generations to come.
