2023 Children’s Christmas Party

Segilola Resources Operating Limited (SROL) organized a Christmas party for the children in its host communities. The Community Christmas party is an annual event that strengthens unity between the company and its three host communities, spreads holiday cheer and seeks to appreciate and celebrate the communities for their support and collaboration throughout the year. This year, the Christmas party had the largest turnout with over 2100 people in attendance to share the fun and cheer that is characteristic of the yuletide season.

The Christmas party was done in conjunction with partners - SINIC Engineering (the Segilola Gold Project’s EPC contractor), Nigerian Breweries Plc and Beloxxi Industries Limited.

The event included fun activities to keep the tempo of the event high and jolly. From boisterous dance competitions to dynamic games, vibrant music, and other activities - all were aimed at creating a fun and inclusive atmosphere for everyone involved. Highlights of this year’s party involved:

  • Family Games – An initiative developed to engage children and families who arrived after the hall had reached capacity, to enable them still participate even though they were outside the event hall but within the premises. Participants and winners went home with foodstuffs such as bags of rice, cartons of noodles, vegetable oil, packs of spaghetti, cartons of Beloxxi crackers, packs of Maltina, packs of salt, packs of semovita, seasoning cubes, packs of tomato puree/paste, crates of eggs. The beneficiaries were grateful for the company’s thoughtfulness in also considering their experience even though they were located outside the event hall.

  • Educational games - IQ Test during the party event and other fun games which brought laughter and more entertainment to the event.

  • Party Souvenirs – educational souvenirs such as branded school backpacks, branded notebooks with writing materials, math sets and other educational materials

  • Treats and refreshments

  • Sing-along and dance competitions – Everyone (including some of the SINIC Engineering personnel and SROL senior staff) joined in the joyous mood and created a cheerful atmosphere.

  • Santa Claus and Cartoon Character Mascots – the children were excited to meet and take pictures with Santa and some of their favorite cartoon character mascots

  • Christmas grotto, bouncy castles and other outdoor fun games equipment

  • Face painting for the children

Overall, it was a dynamic and engaging experience for all involved – both children and adults alike.
