SROL Donates Transformer to Imogbara Community
Segilola Resources Operating Limited (SROL) is committed to the development of its host communities (Odo-Ijesha, Iperindo and Imogbara). Through regular engagement and consultation with the communities, SROL is able to easily identify pain points in the communities.
This is how SROL identified that up until now, the Imogbara community didn’t have its own transformer but got its electricity from the transformer in a neighbouring community, leaving Imogbara at the mercy of the neighbouring community. This meant that the power supply in Imogbara was largely unreliable.
SROL swung into action by providing a 33KV PHCN transformer and 24 new concrete poles as well as repairing damaged powerlines in Imogbara community. This move came as a much-anticipated response to their cries, and you could tell by the rejoicing, celebrations, and joy that was seen at the commissioning event.
The project was commissioned on Thursday, November 23, 2023, and was well-received by Imogbara community members, who celebrated the initiative with lots of singing and dancing. As mentioned by the SROL Community Development and Stakeholder Manager, Ms. Madhurii Sarkar-Amoda, “we decided to prioritize the major challenge in the community and we are pleased to have been able to successfully execute this initiative.”
At the joyous event, Comrade Paul Obasanya (Chairman, Imogbara Community) was also quoted saying, “The initiative is a dream come true and we have to appreciate them [SROL].
SROL is proud to participate in initiatives like this that will have long-lasting positive impacts on its host communities.
