As a company deeply entrenched in its local community, youth empowerment stands as a foundational principle for us at Segilola Resources Operating Limited (SROL). Over the past four years, our commitment has been unwavering in creating avenues and initiatives that empower the youth and promote self-sustainability within our immediate community.

The fourth edition of the Segilola Youth Empowerment Program for 2023 commenced on September 18, 2023, benefiting 41 individuals. The training for this year encompasses essential skills in Shoe Making, Fashion Designing, Confectioneries, and Furniture Making.
In the fields of Shoe Making, Fashion Designing, and Confectioneries, we structured the training into two categories:

(A) Beginner and
(B) Advanced.
The 36 beneficiaries in the beginners' training were strategically distributed across host communities- Iperindo, Odo-Ijesa, and Imogabara, with 12 beneficiaries from each community. Impressively, 34 beneficiaries successfully completed the two-week training.
Outstanding participants were carefully selected by their facilitators (trainers) based on their dedication, attitude, effort, and keen interest displayed during the training.
Below is a breakdown of the beneficiaries who progressed to the next phase of advanced training:
(1) Shoe Making – 8 Beneficiaries (4 Months Training)
(2) Fashion Designing – 6 Beneficiaries (6 Months Training)
(3) Confectioneries – 6 Beneficiaries (4 Months Training)
(4) Furniture – 5 Beneficiaries (4 Months Training). Introductory

TOOLS FOR BOTH BEGINNERS AND ADVANCED:
The 36 beneficiaries at the beginner level received essential working tools, while the 25 beneficiaries at the advanced level were provided with specific tools for their respective fields.
Shoe Making: 'Butterfly' sewing machines and Shoe Filling machines each.
Fashion Designing: 'Two lion' - sewing machines each.
Confectioneries: 3-step fabricated baking ovens, 2 sets of round and square pans, and fabricated trays.
Furniture: Circular Saw, Jig Saw, Screw Machines each.

The ceremony to mark the completion of the first phase for all beneficiaries was held on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, at 11 a.m. in the Iperindo Town Hall. The event was graced by the Kings and their representatives from the three Host communities, as well as representatives from the Ministry of Mines. The advanced training is set to commence on Monday, October 9, 2023, at each facilitator’s respective facilities.

SROL has covered accommodation expenses for those training outside Ilesa. Additionally, a monthly stipend will be provided to all beneficiaries at the advanced level at the end of each month throughout the stipulated training time frame.
