Overview:
Segilola Resources Operating Limited (SROL) organized a career-talk event for secondary school girls in its host communities to commemorate International Women’s Day 2022. The event aimed to encourage young girls to pursue careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) by addressing gender gaps in these fields and inspiring participants to envision STEM as a viable academic and career path. Over 250 girls and guests attended the programme, which included motivational speeches, panel discussions, and guidance from STEM professionals.

Speakers shared personal experiences and strategies for overcoming challenges, breaking stereotypes, and excelling in STEM fields. A panel of female SROL management team members also discussed obstacles affecting girls’ participation in STEM and offered advice on cultivating the right attitude, skills, and determination to succeed.
